JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, installing and repairing: electrical instrumentation the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, industrial motor controls, pump drives, chemical feed systems, and all other facility electrical systems.

  • Maintain, repair, design, install and upgrade the electrical distribution infrastructure for the City; perform thermography of motor control and electrical distribution panels; collect and analyze power quality data to troubleshoot problems.
  • Perform comprehensive troubleshooting down to component levels and determines need for repair or replacement of pumps, check valves, digital or analog meters, temperature/pressure gauges, electrical relays and switches.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on cables, bolts, filters, gaskets, seals, bearings and other mechanical parts; participates in replacing piping, valve parts and equipment fabrication.
  • Performs general cleaning of lift stations; washes walls; paints; waters and prunes shrubs and trees.
  • Maintains open communication with the Utility Superintendant regarding the treatment process and lift stations operation and malfunctions, as well as make recommendations for repairs and improvements to these systems.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all volt motors, control centers, and de-energized higher voltage equipment.
  • Design, install, maintain, and repair building circuits and related equipment.
  • Maintain electronic controls, programmable controls, and related equipment.
  • Requisition parts and supplies; maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Oversee and inspect work performed by outside vendors.
  • Performs daily lift station checks of equipment, including pumps, related controls, overhead crane blowers, generators and grounds.
  • On call to respond to emergencies and breakdowns at the plant and lift stations and participate in emergency on-call duty on a rotational basis.


  •    Valid Class "C" Texas Driver License.
  •    Journeyman Electrician License.
  •     High School Diploma or GED.
  •     Two years of Journeyman-Level electrical installation, maintenance, and repair experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  •     One to two years of experience in utility operations, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater facilities is preferred.
